La excepción era Jerry Harrison, procedente de Jonathan Richman And The Modern Lovers. A pesar de sus raíces, debutaron en un local difícil, el CBGB's, como teloneros de los Ramones: los punks les dieron el visto bueno. En otro contexto esas canciones poco convencionales habían resultado algo afectadas, pero en ese momento, con la voz abrupta de David Byrne, quedaban muy bien y parecían muy urbanas, como en su primero elepé, 'Talking Heads: 77', con el emuladísimo 'Psycho Killer' Brian Eno vio al grupo en el Rock Garden de Londres: su producción desde 'More Songs About Buildings And Food' hasta 'Remain In Light' favoreció, pero también disciplinó, sus veleidades artísticas. El camino que siguieron siempre llevaba a alguna parte y tenía algún elemento intrigante.
